Mohs surgery (requirements)

In order to provide a fast, safe and organized service during Mohs surgery, we appreciate you taking into account the following minimum requirements for proper coordination:

1. Prior coordination of date
It is essential to arrange a tentative date for the procedure in advance, in order to confirm availability in the schedule.

2. Physical space requirements
An area near the surgery site is required. It does not necessarily have to be inside the operating room; it can be a doctor’s office, a consulting room, or an adjacent space that allows for:

• receive and process the surgical specimen,

• maintain close contact with the treating surgeon, and

• to facilitate discussion of findings, orientation of the piece or any technical aspect during the procedure.

3. Basic conditions of the area
The assigned space must include:

• good lighting ,

• 110-volt power outlet ,

• access to running water (tap or nearby available point).

4. Communication of results
The result of the intraoperative study is communicated verbally during the surgical procedure , to allow for immediate decision-making.
Subsequently, a formal written report is issued, which is sent to the attending physician approximately 5 to 7 days after the procedure.

5. Fluid communication during the procedure
It is important that the attending physician or their team be available during the surgery to clarify any details related to the orientation of the piece, clinical correlation, or surgical approach, should the need arise.
